What counts as a "class session" for copyright?

The law is intentionally left vague on what counts as a "class session". This is because class sessions for instruction could be "live" for one class, or a lesson could continue over several instructional days on the same topic. Online and distance learning classes also count as class sessions and have some flexibility due to students accessing materials of the same lesson at different times. In these cases, it is recommended to leave materials available only as long as they are absolutely required.
